Disclosure Policy
Information Disclosure Policy for Syracuse Hancock International Airport
It is the policy of the City of Syracuse to disclose information pertinent to events and incidents in compliance with local, state and federal laws, as applicable. The intent of this policy is to define the procedure to be used for the disclosure of information pertaining to security incidents at the Airport. In the event of a security incident at the Airport, the assigned Federal Security Director (FSD) of the TSA, or his/her designee will serve as the official spokesperson in regards to the incident. No information will be released if it will compromise the security of the traveling public or law enforcement investigations. Sensitive Security Information (SSI) as defined by 49 CFR 1520.7; investigative material compiled for law enforcement purposes as defined by 5 USC 552b and State of New York Public Officers Law Article 6; and other confidential information that may interfere with law enforcement investigations or judicial proceedings; deprive a person of a right to a fair trial or impartial adjudication; identify a confidential source or disclose confidential information relating to a criminal investigation; or reveal criminal investigative techniques or procedures is presumed to compromise the security of the traveling public or law enforcement investigations and thus will not be disclosed. If it is determined that information pertaining to a security incident does not contain Sensitive Security Information and will not jeopardize a law enforcement investigation, the information will be provided upon request by the FSD.
