Everson @ SYR

Syracuse Hancock International Airport has a new exhibit showcasing artwork from the Everson Museum of Art. This inaugural installation is the first phase of an art program that will ultimately include a gallery, where the public can view and purchase art, as well as some permanent pieces that will be created specifically for the airport. The airport is working with the Syracuse Public Arts Commission, along with local museums and artists to bring the beauty of art inside the airport for the public to enjoy.

“As much as the airport is the center of transportation for the region, it is also a part of a community that is abundant with talent and a rich history of artists,” said Christina R. Callahan, Executive Director of Aviation.  “We hope travelers and visitors alike will take a moment to experience Everson @ SYR and the many wonderful pieces on display.”

“By bringing selections of the Everson’s renowned collection of Syracuse China to the new display space at the Syracuse Hancock International Airport, we hope to offer inspiration to travelers and airport visitors alike,” said Steven Kern, Everson Museum of Art Executive Director. “This unique opportunity aligns perfectly with the Everson’s mission of providing direct encounters with art, and we are pleased to partner with the Airport and City of Syracuse in this endeavor.”

The exhibition features ceramic works from renowned American potter Adelaide Alsop Robineau, and selections of Syracuse China and Onondaga Pottery Company. The works showcase the incredible variety of style, form, glazes and pattern found in the collection. Of particular importance is a large vase by Adelaide Alsop Robineau dating prior to 1910.
